The dynamic trio includes a past student, past staff/parent and current parent. These creative professionals all have a connection to Shalom and are the perfect candidates to judge our 'My Shalom' Photography Competition.

Ella
Boas
Ella Boas is a curious and critically engaged arts worker who values community, interdisciplinary perspectives, and thoughtful relationships with place. She grew up in Elliott Heads, on Taribelang Bunda, Gooreng Gooreng, Gurang, and Bailai Country, and attended Shalom College where she made the most of the school’s visual art, photography and design educational opportunities. This led her to volunteer for the Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery where she was selected to be the ambassador for the annual combined schools exhibition in 2017. Ella now lives, learns and works in Lutruwita / Tasmania. Having graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture and Built Environments from the University of Tasmania in 2021, Ella incorporates spatial and relational thinking into her approach to creative projects. She is currently pursuing further studies in curation, cultural heritage and philosophy, supported by the university’s Creative Innovators Program. Her passion for the arts is made manifest in her curatorial work for Sculpture Tasmania Inc., contributions as a board member of Sawtooth Artist-Run-Initiative Gallery, and work with arts festivals such as MONA FOMA and The Unconformity.

Christian
Taylor
Christian Taylor is a retired art educator. He joined the staff of Shalom College as Art coordinator in 1995 following 13 years as a secondary art teacher, subject master and HOD - Curriculum with Education Queensland. In 1997 he established a stand alone photography subject utilizing the excellent photo-mechanical facilities within the College. This subject has morphed through various iterations and continues today with a digital image making and manipulation emphasis which still maintains strong student interest.

Lauriston
Sabrina Lauriston is a Bundaberg-based professional photographer and Shalom College parent. As an artist, she uses photography to lovingly capture images that spark the imagination, tell stories, evoke memories and bring extraordinary visions to life.
She seeks out the tiny details that make a subject intriguing and finds ways of sharing those amazing aspects with others forever through photographs. This allows her to deliver striking, high-quality images that embody a range of themes and emotions and call for a closer look.
She prides herself on having a high level of versatility that allows her to move seamlessly between fields as diverse as real estate photography, event photography and portraiture while preserving the quality of work on which she has built her name.
